FAQs

Can I come visit/meet the dogs at your facility?
  • Cane Corso Rescue, Inc. does not have a physical shelter/facility. We rely solely on foster homes for our rescue dogs. A state abbreviation can be found after each rescue dog’s name, and that is the state in which it is being fostered.
I have some questions about your dogs in rescue, can somebody call me?
  • Unfortunately, Cane Corso Rescue, Inc. is a national rescue that is run by three volunteer directors on a part time basis. (We all work, have families & dogs of our own). Rescue is done mostly at night via email. Because our phone time is very limited, and we use it dealing with shelters, fosters and speaking with approved adopters, etc., we simply cannot call people until they have filled out an adoption application and have gone through the approval process (or during the approval process commonly).
How long should I expect to wait before I hear about my adoption application?
  • Timing really does vary. When we are busy, it could be up to three weeks or more. When we are caught up, it could be within days. Please be patient and refrain from contacting us within the three week period. Applications are being read and we will email you with any questions or additional information we may need. Also, make sure your adoption application is filled out completely!
What are your adoption fees?
  • Adoption fees vary, depending upon the age of the dog. Dogs over 3 are $250, 1-3 year olds are $350, 6 months to 1 year olds are $400 and pups under 6 months are $450. This fee includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, micro-chip, heartworm treatment or preventative care, and any other medical care the dog needed when it came into rescue.
I frequently check the Pet finder list, and it always looks like the same dogs are on there. Do you ever adopt any out?
  • Yes. We are contacted about new dogs needing rescue almost every day. As we work with approved applicants, many times we match them up with a dog coming into rescue at that time. Therefore, many of our adopted Corsos don’t even get posted on our Pet Finder site. Some never go into foster but straight to the approved forever home that is waiting for them.
I filled out a surrender application for my dog, how long does it take to get him out of here?
  • Please read the requirements for surrendering a Corso to CCR, Inc. The animal needs to be spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations before it can be taken in. It will also need to be evaluated by one of our volunteers to confirm temperament. We also require multiple pictures of the dog for breed ID and its Pet finder ad. Surrender applications take about as long as adoption applications, a couple of weeks. Also, because foster homes are scarce, the surrendering person normally has to keep the dog until the new home is found.
I'd like to help. What can I do?
  • There are so many things you can do to help, even if you don’t have a lot of spare time. We are always looking for people to do home visits of potential adopters, to do evaluations of dogs coming into rescue, to help with short (1 hour) transport legs to get dogs to their new homes, etc. Instructions are available; you do not have to have prior experience, although Corso or other guardian breed experience is required for some evaluations.
I don't have the time to volunteer, but I would still like to help.  What can I do?
  • Please DONATE! We are a non-profit organization and rely completely on donations and adoption fees to keep doing what we do. Adoption fees do not cover the medical expenses in many, many cases. And when there are larger expenses, due to a surgery needed for example, we have to fund raise in order to pay for it. Even $5 or $10 at a time is very helpful, as it adds up quick! Please find the “Donate” button to use Paypal or email us about mailing a check.
