James - NJ, young, male-ADOPTED!!!!!!

10.14.11 Update:  James is now in a south NJ foster home. He is currently living with a female Corso and doing great.  Gwen, his Corso sister, is teaching him how to play!  James needs to put on some weight, but he is a happy, active boy.  He is house trained, crate trained, and knows his basic commands.  He also walks well on a leash and has NO food aggression.  This boy is going to make an amazing companion for a family!

9.29.11 UPDATE on James:  This dog is so, so awesome!!!  James is in temporary foster care until the weekend.  PLEASE, PLEASE, we need a foster that can foster him until he is placed.  He is a great dog, but does need some good nutrition and he needs to put on weight.  Here is what his short term foster mom says about him:
//I have had him all day, he stays right by my side, loved being bathed
and loves running in the yard.  He is smart and knows several commands.  He gives lots of kisses and leans into you in typical corso fashion.  Other than being very underweight and having some dry/patchy coat issues
he appears to be healthy.  He's a wonderful boy and will make a family super happy!//

Luvs seeing his buddy!

Courtesy posting, with all the recent intakes...we have no fosters available so we can't commit to saving James...which breaks our heart. Fortunately, James is being looked after by another wonderful rescue, but they too are full so James continues to sit in a high-kill shelter hoping and praying the shelter doesn't reach capacity because if this happens his time will be up. :-( James is a very handsome 2-3 years old Corso who enjoys the best life has to offer...human companionship. Please consider saving James by opening your heart and home to this wonderful boy.
Enjoys being outside!
Yes, sir...I will sit on command.

  4. James is good with other dogs, though we never place male Corsos with other male dogs (dominant breed dogs).

Rita, what state are you in and when did you apply?

  5. Hi Rita,
I found your application.... we will work on it. However, Oregon is too far for us to get James. So sorry.

James is a great dog. Got him, to foster, yesterday. He is very obedient. Knows his basic commands. I don't think he was socialized with other dogs, so sadly he has to learn to play. But he is learning. I have a female Corso and a male Boston Terrier and they all do very well together.
He is not food aggressive. He walks great on a leash. He loves to give kisses. Please adopt James. You won't be disappointed.

  7. Hi Liz,

I am so sad to read your note. Why is not possible to get James here, to Oregon? Would that apply to any other Corso? Is there any way to get a Corso to the West coast? We really would love to help. Is there something we can do to make the adoption possible?
