Hercules-TX- Young, Male - Presa Canario

Hercules is being fostered in TX:

Hercules is a magnificent Presa Canario that was pulled from a Dallas, TX area shelter. He is even more handsome in person and has a wonderful temperament. Hercules has been fine with every animal he was been introduced to, but we recommend that he go into a home with a large breed female dog. Hercules' foster mom has several children and Hercules has been nothing short of perfect with all of the, though these children are very dog savvy. Hercules would do great in a family that wants a dog that is active when outdoors, but calm and snuggly when indoors. He is definitely true to his breed and is protective of his family and property. Due to his drivey nature, he will not be placed in a home with cats.

Hercules' Adoption Donation is $350

  3. Hello, I first want to say that Hercules is beautiful! I wanted to know that since you recommend that he be placed in a home with a large breed female that he would not be placed in a home with a small breed male. I would love to meet him and give him the home that I know he deserves. Would we be automatically disqualified because we have a small dog. Thank you so much. Karen Pratt (tyesangeleyes@yahoo.com)

  4. Hi Karen,

Thank you for your comment. Yes, Hercules is absolutely stunning! Her is a very large, powerful dog and I would not trust him with small dogs at all. He is just so large and one paw swipe could be deadly to a small dog. Sorry. We do have so many other wonderful dogs that would be better.

  10. Is Hercules still available? How would transporting him from TX to NY work? Does he have any medical issues? How old is he?

  11. I was wondering how old Hercules is and if you still have him? I have a small child and wanted to know how old he was to see if they would make a good combination. I have found that younger dogs are more tolerant of small children depending on the up bringing. Also I wouldn't want him to be unhappy if he wasn't used to all of the attention she would give him. Please let me know if he is still available. My email is parkermegan17@gmail.com

  14. I am so, so sorry for the delay in answering. As you can see, we are SWAMPED right now :-(.

Hercules is his foster mom's baby... and he will be his new family's baby as well. The thing to keep in mind is that Herc is HUGE. He is a HUGE, POWERFUL dog. I can't stress this enough. His foster family is very scheduled and predictable, meaning Hercules knows his "place" and knows the routine. He is very well behaved, but this is demanded of him in foster care. He WILL walk all over you if you are not a leader and if his boundaries are not enforced. He is a power house and will just barge his way around, if you know what I mean. Let me give you an example.... when his foster mom goes to let him out of his crate... he "talks" the whole time in excitement. Once his crate door opens, he's ready to barge through. His foster mom has been working on "wait" and "okay". Again, these types of things must be done with him, otherwise he will take his freedom and run. Herc is truly a great dog. We are hoping to find him a home with no other dogs, no small kids (he loves his human, 1yr old foster sister, but he's just too fast and big for her), and someone with Presa experience. Hercules is a WORKING DOG! He really needs a job. He loves running, hiking, and his foster mom has even started getting him in the pool for exercise. Hercules is a great dog!

Also to add: Herc has NO food or toy guarding. He really doesn't have any interest in other dogs... he loves humans.

  15. Hi Liz, Would Hercules get along with a male English Mastiff? If so, I would be interested in discussing further. Thank you, Genelle gdb0215@gmail.com
